Have you wondered why you cats fur has become dull and looking unhealthy well could be for several reasons one can be poor nutrition the coat will lose their lustre. Just like ourselves a cat needs a high-quality cat food which contains important vitamins and minerals to keep good health. 



Cats need Vitamin A important for vision, bone and tooth growth, reproduction, and maintenance of skin and mucous membranes. 



Vitamin A foods are liver, fish liver oil and egg yolks. 



Vitamin D is necessary for the body to absorb calcium a mineral essential for healthy bones, muscle movement, nervous system function, and immune system functions. 



Vitamin D are oily fish, eggs, and cheese. 



Vitamin E is essential for your cat’s optimal health provides great benefits to your cat’s skin and can be used to treat mites, eczema, and flea allergy dermatitis. 



Vitamin E foods are Eggs, Salmon, Peanut Butter, Spinach, Safflower Oil, Sunflower Oil, Soybean Oil 



Vitamin K necessary for normal blood clotting cats with lack of vitamin K1 can cause clotting. 



Vitamin K foods green leafy vegetables and liver, meat, milk, and egg yolk  



Thiamin plays an important role in carbohydrate metabolism, need right amount of carbs, fats, and protein. 



Thiamin natural sources include brewer’s yeast, legumes such as beans, lentils, peas, beef, pork, milk, liver, whole grains enriched flour and cereals. 



Cats need a variety in their diet, like cooked lean meats such as beef, chicken, turkey liver and lamb, good quality cat food and cat biscuits. Never over treat your cat. Remember to remove skin and bones since bones become brittle and can cause damage to your cat. 



Other reasons that can cause dry skin and dull coat is signs of allergies, parasites or infection or more serious problems like kidney, liver, adrenal or thyroid problems. 



Summary: Acute illness and increase in weight through poor nutrition, dental disease, poor nutrition, parasites and infections and chronic illnesses can all cause your cat to appear messy. 



If cats are not feeling well, they do not tend to groom themselves very well, therefore their coat will be greasy or messy, mats of fur or clumps of loose hair in some cases amount of dandruff. 



Of course, too much grooming can mean a problem with fleas or skin allergies. 



Trombiculosis: These mites are more commonly known as chiggers. They attach themselves to your cat's skin and feed on blood before dropping off. They look like small, orange ovals, and they may appear on your cat's head, paws, or belly. 



Some chronic illness can be diabetes, mellitus IBD obesity and chronic kidney disease.
